Early Corinthian Helmet, Brass, without Crest

The Corinthian helmet, originally made of bronze, takes its name from the ancient Greek city of Corinth and has its roots in the early 7th century BC. Its pattern evolved over the centuries, reaching its classical shape by the 5th century BC. Typical features for this particular type of helmet were the domed crown, the protruding neck guard and the distinctive split front with eye slits / cutouts and nose guard. Although it soon spread to Italy and beyond, it has remained the archetype of the Greek or Spartan helmet to this day.

This reconstruction of an early Corinthian helmet as used by the Spartan hoplites around the 6th/5th c. BC is a one-piece brass construction (1.2 mm / 18 gauge). The interior is not lined, but delivery includes a padded cotton cap that makes this fine helmet fully wearable for re-enactment, LARP, theater, etc.
