High Medieval Woollen Cap, various colours
Coifs (also: coiffes) were already worn in the 12th century, as evidenced by numerous contemporary illustrations. In the European Middle Ages, wearing headgear was commonplace and headwear of the kind we offer here did not only cover the heads of women and men of the lower classes, but was also worn (in padded form) by warriors under a chainmail coif or a helmet.
Our coifs are made of soft, warming wool (85% minimum content) and have a natural-coloured cotton lining (85% minimum content). Following the original examples, the ties are particularly long.
Available in various colours (black, brown and green), all variants are fitted with a natural-coloured cotton lining.
