Medieval Plate Sabatons, 14th c., 1.5 mm Steel, Pair

In the late Middle Ages and Renaissance, sabatons (also known as sollerets or solerets) were pieces of plate armour that covered the top and sides of the foot. They were commonly worn by mounted knights to protect their feet against blows from enemy foot soldiers.

The wearable articulated sabatons we offer here are based on 14th century examples. They are hand-forged from 1.5 mm thick steel, blackened on the inside for better corrosion resistance and fitted with riveted leather straps on the underside. They have no soles and consist of a tapered, yet slightly rounded toe cap, several hinged bands or lames, an ankle plate, a "tongue" plate and a heel cap, all connected together by sturdy rivets.

Equally suited for historical re-enactment or LARP, this articulated foot armour is ideal for late medieval settings and will make your portrayal of a proud knight just perfect!

Sold as a pair.

A version of the same sabatons with pointed toe cap is also available in our shop (product no. 1064000058).
