Roman Strap End, Belt Fitting, Tekija Pattern, Tinned Brass
This Roman strap terminal is based on finds from the Flavian period (second half of the 1st century A.D.). The original artefacts, found in Serbia near Tekija / Tekije (part of the province of Pannonia in Ancient Rome) belonged to the leather apron of a Roman legionary's cingulum or balteus. Such aprons consisted of several flat strips of leather (so-called pteryges or pteruges) hanging from the belt and were adorned with continuous rows of metal fittings. Each strap terminated with metal pendants.
This authentic replica of a Roman ornamental belt fitting is crafted from 2 mm thick brass and tin-plated. It is composed of an amphora -shaped pendant and a rectangular, clamp-like attachment with rivet holes. Such strap terminals are perfectly suited for your own DIY project or as replacement/spare parts for Roman belts, for example our Roman balteus based on Tekije finds (Product No. 1616672700). Mounting hardware is not included in delivery.
An ideal accessory for Roman re-enactment.
