This beautifully hand-forged tripod skillet is a practical yet decorative cooking vessel for your medieval camp kitchen. With its rustic design and solid craftsmanship, it fits perfectly into any historical setting.

The pipkin, also called a three-legged pot or Grapen, is a type of cooking pot that emerged in the 12th century and remained widely used until the 18th century. Traditionally made from clay, bronze or later cast iron, it was used for cooking over an open fire. Thanks to its three legs, the tripod pot could be placed directly into the embers, where its construction allowed for even heat distribution and gentle cooking. Today’s Dutch Oven has evolved from this traditional design, although it differs from the historical original particularly by its lid.

This high-quality reproduction is hand forged from sturdy steel. The three intricately twisted legs are securely riveted to the pot, ensuring it stands safely in the embers. The approx. 36 cm long handle makes it easy to lift the pot from the flames, while the hook at the end allows it to be hung when not in use.

Whether at a medieval market, in a camp kitchen, or during a reenactment event, this tripod pan is suitable for a wide range of historical settings. It is particularly well suited for portrayals of the High and Late Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and even the early modern period, adding a historic ambience to any camp kitchen or evening campfire.

Order now and experience the art of medieval cooking!

We recommend cleaning the cooking pot thoroughly before first use.

As each pot is handcrafted, specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.
