Chainmail shirts and aprons were favored especially in late medieval. In this period the plate armor dominated and only the bare parts and changeovers were protected with ring armors. The chainmail shirts are also perfect as base material for own maille-making projects.
The BTW chain maille type: This particular mesh is composed of butted rings made of high-quality spring steel. Considering its excellent value at a fair price,it is perfectly suitable for unexperienced re-enactors who set store on good protection and solid quality. The weave is 4 in 1. This type is called BTW (Butted Tensile Wire). Although the natural finish allows rust to develop, it also gives the weave a genuine appearance.
