Roman Ladies Shoes, Calcei
Reconstruction of Roman shoes, so-called calcei, believed to have been worn by noble Roman ladies.
The original has been found in a well near Welzheim (Germany) together with more shoes. These shoes date back to the middle of the 2nd up to the beginning of the 3rd century AD. Around the end of the 2nd century, a young woman was found buried in the French village of Martres-de-Veyre with a woolen tunic, long knee-highs and very similar shoes.
The shoes we offer here are crafted from soft, vegetable tanned leather and can easily be dyed with leather dye.
