Silver Pendant, Celtic Knot
The trinity knot is an isosceles triangle made of interlaced arcs with no visible beginning or end. Also known as the Celtic triangle or triquetra (alternatively triqueta or triquetta), this knot is one of the most famous symbols in Celtic culture and found its way into Irish imagery around the 6th or 7th century. It is often found in insular art (the early medieval art style of Ireland and Great Britain), for example in the Book of Kells (9th c.), the world-renowned illuminated manuscript that is on display for people to admired at Trinity College in Dublin.
Although its true original intention remains unknown to date, it is believed that this symbol had some religious significance for pagans. In Christian iconography, the triquetra was used to represent the Holy Trinity. But it also appeared in many other cultures, with each of them attributing its own meaning to it.
To this day, the trinity knot is characterized by its versatility and stands, among other things, for longevity, eternal love, eternal spiritual life, family cohesion, the unity of body, soul, and spirit, or the Triple Goddess in Wicca (the "religion of witches"). It is often worn as a protective amulet or talisman / lucky charm.
With this elegant silver pendant, men and women alike can round off their garb in a beautiful manner, whether at medieval markets, Viking gatherings, re-enactment events, or simply in modern everyday life.
Combined with a simple necklace or leather cord, this charming piece of jewellery is a true eye-catcher.
