The original on which this belt end tip is based dates to the 8th – 11th century and was found in the Swedish Viking settlement of Birka. The brass belt chape is adorned with an elaborate Nordic motif. There are two 1 cm long pins on the back, which can be used to attach the fitting to a leather belt or pouch.
