Product information "Gothic Arm Protection, 16th C., 1.6 mm Steel, Pair"
Full Gothic Arm Protection, 16th Century
Vambraces, Couters, Rerebraces and Pauldrons
1.6 mm Steel
This wearable, fully articulated reconstruction of a late medieval or rather Renaissance arm armour as worn in the 16th century is crafted from 1.6 mm thick steel and blackened on the inside for better corrosion resistance. It is designed to protect the forearms, elbows, upper arms and shoulders.
The arm protection consists of a couter or cowter (also known as an elbow cop), a two-piece (hinged) tubular vambrace or lower cannon for the forearm, a short tubular rerebrace or upper cannon for the upper arm, and a pauldron (sometimes spelled pouldron or powldron) for the shoulder. For proper freedom of movement, all parts are connected together by sliding plates or lames held in place by sturdy leather straps riveted on the inside. A strap buckle is riveted onto the upper edge of the shoulder plate, allowing the arm harness to be either attached to a gambeson with braided cords or connected to other plate armour parts by means of leather straps.
Equally suited for historical re-enactment, LARP, stage, TV/film or costuming, these articulated armguards will make your portrayal of a proud knight just perfect!
Sold as a pair.
Details:
- Material: 1.6 mm steel, leather straps, brass buckles
- Overall length: approx. 65 cm

To ensure that this armour is the right fit for you, please remember to take your measurements over your gambeson and/or any piece of clothing or chainmail you may plan to wear underneath!
The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain plate armour on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
