La Tène Celtic Spearhead, approx. 51 cm
As historical finds from the La Tène period show, the spear was the Celts’ weapon of choice alongside the sword. In the 19th century, around 2500 objects including many well-preserved spearheads were discovered at the La-Tène site on Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland, one of the best-known archaeological sites for artefacts from the La Tène culture. The Early Iron Age, which covers the period from around 480 to 15 BC, was also named after this very site. The archaeological finds are now on display in museums all over the world.
The spearhead offered here was inspired by those original finds from the La Tène period. A distinctive feature is its wave-shaped blade that tapers gradually toward the tip. It comes with two pre-drilled holes that allow it to be secured onto the wooden staff of your choice to create your own Celtic spear. The haft and additional mounting hardware are not included in the delivery.
Please note that this spearhead is primarily designed as a collectible, decoration piece or prop and by no means suited for combat re-enactment!
