... is the last of the six known Norse art styles and persisted until the beginning of the 12th century. It superseded theRingerike style by the middle of the 11th century. The Urnes style is characterized by delicate representationsof intertwined animals. It was named after a small Norwegian locality on the Lustra Fjord.
