Chainmail Coif with Triangular Ventail, BTW, ID8mm, natural finish
- Battle-Ready -
The mail coif that covers the shoulders has an authentic square face opening and a triangular ventail equipped with a leather tie and lined with leather.
Such coifs were particularly popular in the High Middle Ages, e.g. with the Normans and Crusaders.
The BTW chain maille type:
This particular mesh is composed of butted rings made of high-quality spring steel. Considering its excellent value at a fair price, it is perfectly suitable for unexperienced re-enactors who set store on good protection and solid quality. The weave is 4 in 1. This type is called BTW (Butted Tensile Wire). Although the natural finish allows rust to develop, it also gives the weave a genuine appearance.
This medieval coif is suitable for combat re-enactment, LARP, stage or TV/film, and ideal to complete the armour of a crusader or Knight Templar.
We recommend wearing a padded arming cap under the chain hood.
Details:
- Material: spring steel
- Finish: natural (slightly oiled)
- Inner ring diameter: approx. 8 mm
- Ring thickness: approx. 1.6 mm
- Weight: approx. 3.1 kg
Specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.
The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain chain mail / chain armour on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
