Gothic sallet with bevor, size M, 1.6 mm steel
Replica of a gothic sallet of around 1495 AD. The original is exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and has been made by the German armourer Lorenz Helmschmied,, the armourer of the Emperor Maximilian I.
What makes this sallet so special is that the bevor is firmly attached (riveted) to the helmet. The bevor as well as the visor are foldable and lockable. There's no incorporated liner, but delivery includes a padded cap. Nevertheless, we recommend attaching an accurately fitting padding. There's a wire gauze in front of the viewing slot which can be removed without any problem, e.g. with a side cutter.
